4.3.2011 Prize Giving Ceremony and Farewell Dinner

Day five was a sparetime day. The delegations took the day for skiing in the beautiful ski are of "Dachstein West" or to make trips in the UNESCO world culturel heritage region Salzkammergut. In the evening were the world champions crowned and the event closed by a farewell dinner. The celebrations lasted till the early morning hours.

3.3.2011 20:00 Day Four, 3 rounds Accuracy und Final Round

Slovenia Elan won 152 points ahead of Russia 1 252 points and Austria White 278 points. The audience experienced a exiting final round, with the 4 best female and 13 best male competitors. Irina Avbelj from Slovenia won with 34 points difference and become world champion in front of Erica Franz from Switzerland and Maja Sajovic from Slovenia. In the men's Aleksey Burenin Russia became world champion in front of Uros Ule and Matey Becan both from Slovenia. Junior World Champion became Michael Grossegger from Austria in front of Viacheslav Pachkolin from Russia and Marko Premuzik from Croatia. The World Masters Class won Erica Franz from Switzerland, in front of Empl Heinz from Austria and Corrado Marchet from Italy.

2.3.2011, 17:00 Day Three, three Rounds Accuracy

The day started with two rounds giant slalom. Schwertl Magdalena from Austria won the giant slalom in front of Erika Franz from Switzerland and Irena Avbelj from Slovenia. Valente Marco from Italy won before Anton Gruber of Austria and Reinhold Haibel from Germany. After the giant slalom Accuracy startet at 12:30. The difficult wind conditions improves. Till 17:00 3 rounds accuracy had been completed. After 2 runs giant slalom and 3 rounds accuracy the Para-Ski combined score for the leaders:
Male: 1. Burenin Aleksey RUS, 2. Uros SLO Ule, 3. Matej Becan SLO
Women: 1. Irene Avbelj SLO, 2. Erica Franz SUI, 3. Christina Franz SUI

1.3.2011, 16:45 Opening Ceremony

Wolfgang Lehner from Radio Upper Austria leads thrue the opening ceremony. Gosau Mayor Gerhard Gamsjäger warmly welcomes the delegations in the most beautiful ski village of Upper Austria. General Major Heinrich Winkelmayer officialy opened the 13th FAI World Para-Ski Championships 2011 in Gosau.

1.3.2011 14:00 Interruption after technical problems

During the first round technical problems occur on the measurement system. Just before the round could be continued, the pilot reported a technical problem with the helicopter. The meet director interrupted the competition up to 14:45.

1.3.2011, 10:00 Giant Slalom Qualification Run

The competition starts at 10 clock with the qualification round giant slalom. Magdalene Schwertl and Markus Seifert, both from Austria, are dominating the giant slalom. Team Slowenia Elan wins the skiing qualification, second place team Austria Red. After the team leader meeting at 11:30 the competition will continue with Accuracy.

28.02.2011, 20:00 1st Team Leader Meeting

At 20 o'clock, the team leaders gather in the meeting room of the Vitalhotel Gosau. Meet Director Dr. Reinhard Flatz welcomes the delegations and officials of the FAI and explains the first competition day - competition starts with the giant slalom qualification. Chief Judge Daniel Sieber introduces the international team of judges. After that, the starting order of the giant slalom qualification round was announced.

From 10:30 a.m. all teams have the possibility to do some training jumps at the competition area. Eight nations use this opportunity to gain some experience on the landing area at Hornspitz Lift.

The registration office opens its doors at 08:30 and is open all day until 19 o'clock. 74 athletes, male and female competitors, as well as 30 coaches and officials from 21 nations were registered and dressed.
